Guided by Design

Design Education | UI Principles | Empowering Teams

“This piece taught me to step into the unknown — to trust my voice, share what I know, and light the way even when the path isn’t fully mapped."

Why "Guided by Design”?

Because that was my intention from the start. Yes, this work improved the quality of low-code applications—but more importantly, it was about helping developers understand the why behind Design. Why it matters. Why they should care. And how thoughtful design can elevate their work—not just in form, but in function, flow, and meaning.

A Project with passion

As part of my ongoing mission to raise design standards in low-code tools, I created an internal presentation teaching developers the fundamentals of good UI design in Power BI. Drawing from my experience building the Power Apps Design Library, I wanted to show that thoughtful design can exist anywhere — even in rigid, overlooked platforms.

This presentation covered core UI principles — clarity, consistency, hierarchy, and accessibility — as well as Power BI-specific tips and platform constraints. It offered guidance on visual selection, mobile optimisation, colour use, interactivity, and performance.

More than a deck, this was an act of quiet leadership: bringing empathy, structure, and aesthetic care to tools often treated as purely functional. It’s part of my broader path toward design advocacy and knowledge sharing within technical teams.
